When Life Was Easy Is on Vacation This week (Aug 27)
I'll be back next week.
Here's some odd ones you may want to read while I'm gone:
A College Memory is a favorite of mine and it involves Michael Dukakis.
A day to take with me the rest of my life is an interesting - long (sorry) story about a person I met a couple of yrs ago.
Even In Playdoh, Boys Have Male Pattern Baldness is a funny tale that was led by my daughter.
Who Are These Guys - this was the one that I think cemented me in the view of folks who read Mike's Got Nothin. Even Mike was shocked at what he found here.
So, i don't think I'll have any guest writers, but MgN - i'll send you my pw if you want to write for me one time while I'm gone.
What else? I got vacation.

Writing
So, I went to the diner yesterday morning and this morning and brought a pad of paper with me because I know i've got a lot in me that's coming out, so, i brought it just in case.
Yesterday, i kinda just wrote a bunch of nonsense on varying topics and today started off that way, and then.....WOOOOOSH!
I just kinda hit on something.
The word Sometimes.
Now, the word sometimes isn't one of those "favorite words in the English language" type of words.....HOWEVER, when translated to Spanish it looks like this:
De Vez En Cuando
(dae vay-z ehn Kw-ahn-doe) - note: if you say the word 'day'
to pronounce "de".....take the Y part out and you're good to go.
Say that a few times so that you can hear it.....do it slowly so you can get the phonetics part right.....and I just kinda started righting a song called De Vez En Cuando.
So, here are the words:

Now - i know that it's difficult to *hear* what I hear in the music and I need someone who plays some spanish classical guitar to help me with the music part of this, but really, this is pretty much done.
And, the good news is I'll be meeting up with my buddy George (not george glass tho) who'll go thru this and the chord progressions and we'll figure it out.
But, that's just how my writing can happen sometimes.

You ever try to get something resolved?
And, people DON'T want to be a part of the solution.
Want to have a glimpse into my frustration level? Well....here it is.
I was thisclose to sending this email out and then following it up with a conference call.....but, I was given a little coaching of - not sending it....
I've removed some names and specific information, but, when you sit on a conf call from 3 PM - 915ish PM on Monday, same bridge from 1025 AM - 430 PM on Tuesday, same bridge other issues from 10 AM - 1 PM on Wed after having been on that conference bridge on Saturday from 1030 AM - 430 PM for other issues.....how would you feel? - rhetorical question.
Soooooooooooo - with that - i give you my cry-baby email that almost went out....but make no mistake here.....i'm not some little baby who hides behind an email with quasi-tough talk. I talk the talk and I walk the walk. I don't hide or run for cover....others use me for that.....that's what a leader does.

What If Scenario:

I'll tell you what....Let's say I have an irregular heartbeat but, I can't replicate it for my doctor....
Does that mean I don't have an irregular heartbeat? Did my doctor just say - hey, I didn't hear it, you're fine....You're fine, issue closed. And then, outside his office I have a massive heart attack and die.
So, did I have an irregular heartbeat or was I fine. Should the doctor have taken a few more steps, maybe brought in a consult?
I want everyone on this distribution to look at this ticket as if it was your spouse, your relative, friend or an issue one of our executives gave you. If any of us would have taken extra care and/or extra steps to get it resolved because it's said executive's issue, then SOMETHING IS SERIOUSLY WRONG with how we're getting business done!
If I submitted a horrible ticket, then let me know and respond all on here. I'm going with what I got from the field.
And, I'm frustrated. I know you can tell. I think you're frustrated too. Heck, you may have hit delete already....and, I can't say I blame you.
I'm at the point where this is going to be 80% of my job and I AM RELENTLESS.
Please be my advocates with me and let's save the world...and our customers.

Funny Story
Went out with BJ girl and....she's a nice girl.....i'll have to get a new name for her.
But, she invited me to hang out with her friends at a bbq on Saturday (i met up with her on Fri night at a live outdoor music place in the town next to where I work).
But - she told her friends - and the group was about 15 strong - and she says "Beware - he's a big ass grabber."
I promptly responded, "Hey.....you're ass isn't that big."
I got a lot of laughs, a few high fives and....well....for the women who read this.....well my friend - BJ girl - she just shook her head.
Me - i had a good time....she's a new friend and she has nice friends too. As a matter of fact, she had a date Sat. night and she left me at the bbq - but I got along so well with her friends, i didn't feel like i was left.
Basically - i just did the typical JC thing.....threw out some funny comments, got some laughs...and I then called it a night.
Now - my neighbor with Yappy Dog - she's gotta realize that putting yappy dog out on the balcony and leaving it there at 630 AM is a BIG NO NO and she will be contacted.
Oh - and from the files of people tell me things - some chick i met at the bbq yesterday felt compelled to tell me she won the push-up contest at the Washington Nationals Game on Friday night. 34 pushups in 30 seconds. Not too bad for a girl - but, i'm thinking MikesGotNothin' could have easily beaten her....I know I could have done 50 in that time amount. That was a joke.
What else - I've got somethin.

I'm going into the studio
That's right.
I'm 38 years old and I'm going to record some songs I've written and, hopefully, put them out there as something people would enjoy.
I've confirmed the Wknd of 9/29/07 I'm headed to Kansas to record - and the song down below in one of the other blogs is one of them that I'll do.
Should be fun.
I emailed the manufacturer of my 6 string acoustic/electric - denny zager - and asked if he'd like to sit in and play. He wrote and performed the song - In the Year 2525 back in the 1960s and his guitars are at http://www.zagerguitar.com/. Here's what I wrote to his son Dennis:

Just wanted to throw an offer out there to you/Denny.
I'm going to a friend's to record songs and am bringing my zager and my 12 string. I'll be flying into Kansas on a Friday the wknd of 9/29 and….was wondering if Denny would be interested in playing on a couple of songs…..I'll be in KC, Mo - just north of the river my friend tells me.
I know that this is out of the ordinary and well - just kinda weird to ask…..HOWEVER…..In my life - stranger things have happened…..and, like asking a girl out on a date - you never know unless you ask…..So…..while not asking you guys out on a date, I'm asking if Denny would like to come and play on any/some of the recordings. My friend George Evans is an accomplished musician and we'll be recording in his studio - he's played venues like Madison Square Garden and the Verizon Center and all over the world.
So….The offer is out there for Denny if he'd like to be a part of the love680 experience.

And, I would put the zager name on our page and pics of us playing in the studio, etc….but, in the end….it would be fun because all the music is written and we'll be going in and putting it down and - it'll be fun. If no one else can offer Denny a *fun* time on the Saturday of that wknd….then I'm here to make that offer.
